– We Arrive at the Town of Kalaw –
After our beautiful one-hour drive from Heho Airport, we arrived at our hotel in the beautiful little town of Kalaw.
What began as an old hill station originally founded by the British, Kalaw is a hill town located high up in the western Shan State (elevation 4330 feet). Surrounded by beautiful mountains and rolling hills it has an eclectic mix of cultures – Shan people, Indian Muslims, Bamars, and Nepalis (Gurkhas retired from British military service), most of who settled here to build roads and a railway line during the British period. It offers a much cooler climate than the rest of Myanmar and has become quite popular for its trekking.
– Dream Mountain Resort Kalaw –
With its overall design (inside and out) and its location sitting high up overlooking the Kalaw valley, the Dream Mountain Resort gives the feeling of staying in an alpine lodge. The views here are some of the best we’ve ever seen.
Our room (suite), the staff, and service were all top-notch here – we hated that we only stayed one night!

Breakfast here at Dream Mountain Resort was very impressive. Cook to order eggs, omelets, pancakes, fresh fruits, bread, fresh juices, and coffee. What else could you ask for!
